Natalie is a young mum. She reached out to us shortly after finishing her community sentence in March. In her initial meeting with us, Natalie told us that she’d love a remote admin job, or something part-time that she could do from home, to enable her to look after her young daughter. But this is hard to find at the moment with fewer jobs around as a result of the pandemic.
Luckily, she was able to take part in all our employability workshops from home, tuning in remotely from her smartphone. The session on confidence and self-esteem was her favourite. She could also join our wellbeing sessions, which she said really helped her to not feel so isolated while she looked for a job and cared for her daughter.
Natalie is now working in a key worker role she found through Working Chance. She is really happy to be earning a wage and supporting her daughter, and she likes that her job is different every day. Working Chance will stay in touch for a year into her job, and if she ever wants to progress or look for a new position, we will be there.
