Working Chance’s chief executive appointed to Women’s Justice Board Partnership Delivery Group

This week the Ministry of Justice announced the seven specialist stakeholders who will join the Partnership Delivery Group supporting the newly formed Women’s Justice Board. The Board is responsible for addressing the distinct needs of women in the criminal justice system; you can read the full announcement on the government website.

We’re delighted that after a competitive process, Natasha Finlayson, our chief executive, has been appointed as the specialist stakeholder for education, training, and employment. This is a real opportunity to amplify the voices of the women we support, furthering our mission of helping women with convictions to rebuild their lives and to reduce reoffending.

Working Chance has supported thousands of women into employment since 2009, and last year we expanded our provision to support women to access education and training. We understand the importance of gender-specific support in helping women access opportunities and look forward to bringing this to the Board. Our chief executive, Natasha Finlayson says:

“Women in the justice system have often had really tough lives, characterised by trauma, poverty and violence perpetrated against them. Employment, education and training play such a vital role in supporting a woman to rebuild her life and confidence. I’m excited to bring Working Chance’s expertise to the table and to advocate for women to get the support they need.”
